All day Christmas Meditation - Saturday, December 14 - 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

"To observe the birthday of Jesus with gifts and festivities shows some respect and attention to the ideals of his life. But to meditate and prepare your mind for the holy occasion of Christmas, that you may experience within yourself the birth of a new consciousness of universal brotherhood and love for all living creatures, is to really celebrate Christmas. Drive away from your mind all pride and prejudices, that you may fittingly hold the omnipresent Christ Consciousness in your love-expanded bosom." − Paramahansa Yogananda

A spiritual highlight of the year for members and friends of Self-Realization Fellowship is the tradition of devoting a whole day to meditation and communion with Christ during the Christmas season. This practice was started by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1931 and continues to this day in SRF temples and centers worldwide. Paramahansaji often predicted this practice would spread throughout the world as more and more people come to realize the true meaning of the celebration of the birth of Christ.
All are welcome to join us for our annual all day Christmas meditation to be held this year on Saturday, December 14. The meditation will be held in both India Hall and the temple. India Hall is for those who intend to stay for the entire day while the temple is open for those who can only attend for part of the day. The doors will open at 9:30 a.m. and the meditation begins at 10:00 a.m. There is a 30-minute break at 1:30 p.m. and the meditation will conclude about 5:00 p.m.
As is customary, you may bring a fruit and a monetary gift in an envelope as an offering. You may use meditation supports (armrests) in the patio area of the temple, but not in the main area of the temple or India Hall. We would also like to request that you not bring any food or water into either India Hall or the temple. Please do not use any perfume or fragrant oil. Please wear clothing that would not make noise when moving. If you have a cough or cold, please be considerate and join us from home.
You may wish to review our Group Meditation Guidelines. We hope you can join us for this blessed custom of setting aside one day each year solely to commune with God.
Please note that the temple will not be open for individual meditation from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. after our all day Christmas meditation on Saturday, December 14.
