Group Meetings are generally held on the 4th Wednesday of the month, at 7:00 p.m. in India Hall.
*A Kriyaban is one who has been initiated into the sacred Kriya Yoga technique of meditation. Please bring your Kriyaban card.
About the HTSG
The Hollywood Temple Service Group (HTSG) is a fellowship of devoted Kriyabans* committed to serving Paramahansa Yogananda’s work at Hollywood Temple and striving to embody his ideals.
Members gather monthly for:
- Meditation
- Discipleship classes with one of the Temple ministers
- Service committee meetings
- Spiritual fellowship
Origins and Spiritual Guidance of the HTSG
Paramahansa Yogananda instructed Meera Mata, one of his close monastic disciples, to encourage temple members to support the Temple’s activities and operations. In the late 1950s, Meera Mata worked with other direct disciples to formally organize the HTSG. The first chairperson, Eugene Ben Vau, a devoted disciple who met the Guru in 1936, served faithfully until his passing in 1971.
The Group has been blessed to have the guidance of Meera Mata, Brother Anandamoy, Brother Bhaktananda, and other direct disciples.
HTSG members continue this sacred tradition — serving with devotion, deep Kriya Yoga meditation, and attunement with God and Guru.
Brother Bhaktananda reminded the Group:
“Our first responsibility as the [HTSG] is to live the spiritual life ourselves. In this way, we can also serve as examples for others. Living the spiritual life means regular meditation, practice of the presence of God, and right activity with the thought of pleasing God and Guru.”
