A two-hour group meditation held every Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The meditation begins with group practice of the Energization Exercises at 7:00 p.m. and includes a period of chanting at 8:00 p.m., when attendees may enter or leave the Temple.

Newer and experienced meditators alike are welcome; if it’s your first group meditation, please see our Group Meditation Guidelines.

Each Sunday morning, Hollywood Temple holds a group meditation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by an Inspirational Service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. You may come for either or both services. All are welcome!

The hour-long service includes a short silent meditation, an inspirational talk on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, and a brief healing service, led by a monastic of the Self-Realization Fellowship order.

The Temple bookroom is open afterward, from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m.

Families are welcome. Children ages 3 to 12 may be dropped off at Sunday School starting at 10:45 a.m., so parents can attend the 11:00 a.m. Inspirational Service. Teens ages 13 to 18 are welcome at Teen Group, which meets at the same hour on the second Sunday of each month.

The Hollywood Temple Sunday School meets every Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., for children ages 3 to 12. Drop-off begins at 10:45 a.m. Classes include a short meditation and instruction in Paramahansa Yogananda’s How-to-Live principles.

Teens ages 13 to 18 are welcome at the Teen Group, which meets once a month on the second Sunday at the same time.

If you love to sing, we’d love to have you! The Hollywood Temple Singers are a year-round choir open to all.

We gather to rehearse every Sunday from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in Lower India Hall and perform at local convalescent homes and occasionally at Temple events. Newcomers are welcome any Sunday, no audition necessary!

In the weeks through the Christmas season, Hollywood Temple will hold on Tuesdays three-hour group meditations with Kirtan in the temple, starting December 1 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. For those unable to stay for the full three hours, the doors will reopen at 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

The meditation will begin with a group practice of the Energization Exercises outside the temple at 7:00 p.m.

This month, our Service Group meeting is also open to all young adults (ages 18 to 39) of Hollywood Temple, who are warmly invited to join us. Each meeting includes a monastic-led meditation, an inspirational talk, and a social period.

The Hollywood Temple Service Group (HTSG) is a league of devoted Kriyabans* who are committed to serving their Guru’s work at Hollywood Temple and striving to exemplify his ideals. The Group meets monthly for meditation, discipleship classes, service committee meetings and fellowship.

One does not have to be a member of the HTSG to serve at Hollywood Temple. All are welcome to join us in service at the Temple. Please see our Opportunities to Serve page.

*A Kriyaban is one who has been initiated into the Kriya Yoga technique of meditation.

The Hollywood Temple Service Group (HTSG) is a league of devoted Kriyabans* who are committed to serving their Guru’s work at Hollywood Temple and striving to exemplify his ideals. The Group meets monthly for meditation, discipleship classes, service committee meetings and fellowship.

If you are a Kriyaban who regularly attends Hollywood Temple and are interested in becoming a member of the HTSG, please attend one of our monthly meetings and see the HTSG chairman at the end of the meeting.

If you are not a Kriyaban and are interested to learn more about the Service Group, we occasionally hold meetings open to all friends of Hollywood Temple.

A weekly Hatha Yoga class for women of all levels, held Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Lower India Hall. No experience is necessary. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat or blanket; water is recommended. Suggested donation $10.

A longer group meditation with kirtan held every Friday evening from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. It begins with the Energization Exercises at 7:00 p.m. and includes periods of chanting at the top of each hour, when attendees may enter or leave the Temple.

A spiritual highlight of the year is the annual All-Day Christmas Meditation held in both India Hall and the Temple. India Hall is for those who intend to stay for the entire day, while the Temple is open for part-day attendees. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. with a 30-minute break at 1:30 p.m. As is customary, you may bring a fruit and a monetary gift in an envelope as an offering. We request that you not bring any food or water to India Hall or the Temple. We hope you can join us for this special day.
